CANDIED BACON

CANDIED BACON. What more is there to say? Bacon is good enough as is, but when you add some sugar to it and bake it, it takes it to the next level. I could probably eat a pound of candied bacon in one sitting. It’s that good.

Put this bacon on a cheese or charcuterie board or serve it alone. It’s a great thing to bring to a party, and trust me it gets eaten quickly.

CANDIED BACON

prep time: 5 minutes

total time: 45 minutes

INGREDIENTS:

10 pieces thick cut bacon
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 tsp cayenne pepper

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a small bowl combine sugar and cayenne and set aside.

Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper and lay bacon flat in a row. Sprinkle sugar mixture on top of bacon and pat down on it so it’s pressed down on the bacon. You only have to cover the top side of the bacon with sugar, because while it cooks the sugar with seep down and immerse each strip.

Cook bacon for 25-30 minutes. Everyone likes their bacon at different crispness so the cook time will different for everyone. Keep a close eye on it through the cooking process. The bacon may feel flimsy and undercooked when taken out of the oven, but remember that once the bacon cools after a while it will become more stiff. Take out of oven and let cool before touching.
