POMEGRANATE MARTINI

Going into college I had never had a pomegranate martini. I mean honestly, had anyone had a classy drink at that age in life? In high school we basically drank whatever was in our parents liquor cabinet while making sure they never noticed (sorry mom and dad!) So all those old dusty bottles that had never been touched in ages? Yeah, we drank those. High school was a lot of nasty liquor and cheap beer (bought by boys with fake ID’s or boys with beards that made them look 30). It was a very sophisticated time in my life if you can’t tell…kidding of course!

When I went off to college at Ole Miss I purchased a fake ID to get me into those 21+ bars and to be able to drink at dinner with my friends. There is this restaurant called Bourè, on the square in Oxford, that had a pomegranate martini on the menu. Like any other basic girl in college, I LOVED IT. I loved anything that was sweet and fruity and got me buzzed. Oh, to be 18 again! I know I’m making myself sound so dumb here…but it’s the truth. I’m sure so many girls can relate to this that are in college right now, or already out of college like me.

I’m getting off track now….back to the martini! I remember ordering a Caesar salad and this martini for dinner one night at Bourè. I was on a college budget so it was either eat an expensive meal or drink an expensive drink! I chose the drink. Also, I’m sure many can relate to this “college budgeting” as well, lol! Little did I know, this drink is so easy to make at home there’s no use in spending $20 for it at a swanky restaurant. If only I had known back then.
