5 THINGS I’M LOVING THIS NOVEMBER

Halloween is gone and done with and now it’s time for Christmas? Oh wait, yeah that’s right…THANKSGIVING. Let’s put away all our creepy skeletons and scarecrows and slowly make the change to all things thanksgiving. The most looked-passed and underrated holiday of the year (in my opinion!). Thanksgiving will never get the recognition it deserves. The Thanksgiving meal is by far my favorite of all holiday meals. It’s top notch food. Now that my sweet tooth has been overloaded with candy and sugar from Halloween, it’s onto savory and comforting turkey and stuffing. I can hardly control my excitement. Clay and I are headed down to Corpus Christi to visit my parents. It’s usually pretty hot year round down in South Texas so I’m happy to have a change of pace. Corpus is so laid-back and has a ‘go with the flow’ vibe. It’s right on the Gulf of Mexico so I grew up going to the beach pretty often. I can’t wait to wake up early with Landon to go watch the sunrise at the pier. It’s one of my favorite things about being home. That, and also the FOOD. Corpus is home to the best Mexican food out there (as I’m sure you’ve grasped from my endless rants on my Mexican food posts). But really, it’s THAT good!

So with cold weather coming into view, also brings about all my fall favorites. My favorite kitchen items, household things, warm weather sweaters and boots. Cozy blankets and the best tv shows we’re currently watching. Here’s what I’m loving right now!

1. DECORATING ON A BUDGET

I’m currently decorating our apartment and getting lots of new furniture and fun things. Our apartment isn’t the biggest space ever, but we’re making due! Plus with cute furniture and accents, it’s really transforming our drab apartment into a cozy oasis. We’re almost done with our living room now and then it’s onto the bedrooms. I haven’t quite decided what to do with Landon’s room yet – maybe a jungle theme? Or trucks and tractors? It’s a work in progress. But I’m loving what we’ve done so far. And when I say “we” I mean ME. (Sorry Clay haha!) Everything that I’ve bought so far for our apartment has been with a discount or on sale. I’m subscribed to all my favorite online stores email updates. This way I always know anytime a store has a big sale going on. I got our couch pretty much $1,000 cheaper than it was originally. Our rug was 25% off along with our coffee table. I love to bargain shop or shop “smart” as I call it. There’s no reason to pay full price for something when you can get it on sale. My advice would be to sign up for emails from your favorite home stores. Look out for the sales and the discount codes. Wait for those and then BUY BUY BUY. It’s so satisfying buying something half off and saving so much money for other fun things!

2. FALL CANDLES

I’m a big candle lover – always have been. My parents used to yell at me in high school for accidentally leaving my candles burning…oops! Don’t worry, I’ve grown up a lot since and never forget to blow them out now. I love candles in the fall that smell like all my favorite fall scents. Pumpkin spice, vanilla, autumn leaves, apple pie… you name it and I’ve got it. My favorite place to find some reasonably priced candles is Target and World Market. Their candle section is quite large with a million different candle scents to choose from.

3. STAYING IN AND WATCHING TV ON A FRIDAY NIGHT

It’s no secret that Clay and I are homebodies. We rarely go out or make any sort of appearance at bars. It’s a rare (but fun) occasion whenever we do pop out of the house without Landon. Ever since becoming parents we really don’t feel any “fomo” anymore from not going out. We’re happy as can be just eating good food and watching a movie on the couch on a Friday night. With that being said, we have watched everything there is to watch. Call us boring if you must, but we know good tv. So what are we obsessed with lately?

Haunting of the Hill House – HOLY SH*T so scary. I heard and read how truly chilling this show is…but my goodness. I’m still having some weird nightmares. Landon has been sleeping in our room ever since we started the show haha. It has got my anxiety at an all time high. It’s a love/hate relationship with scary movies/shows. I love the high anxiety “omg what’s going to happen next” kind of thing. It keeps me on my toes and probably almost gives me a heart attack every time. But I love it! The show is not only a great story line, but the cinematography and production is outstanding. It’s just a very well made show with great acting. We are BIG fans. Definitely would recommend.

That 70’s Show – Such a classic, am I right? I’m one of those people that constantly have to have background noise. Whether it’s music or tv, something needs to be on. I can’t handle silence. It’s overwhelming to me. So That 70’s Show or Friends are my two easy going shows that I can watch a million times over and never get tired of them. I’m not kidding when I saw I’ve probably watching both of those shows 100 times through.

This is Us – Clay and I were late to the game with this award winning show. We started watching it in when season 2 premiered. We basically binge watched the first season in a couple of days and we’re all caught up. Season 3 is happening right now and I can’t help but love the Pierson family. Sad, uplifting, humorous and relatable. I’m obsessed.

Modern Family – I’m not even sure what season it is by now but I’ve never missed an episode. A million personalities all in one family…this show could not be more relatable. I watch it on my Hulu account the day after a new episode comes out. A 30 minutes light and humorous show that can always make me laugh no matter what my mood I’m in. (Also great background noise).

Ray Donovan – The newest season just came out on Showtime a couple Sunday’s ago. A dark but addicting show packed with violence, drugs, criminals and the ever so badass and mysterious Ray Donovan. Clay and I have been watching this since the beginning and we’re so pumped to finally have another season to binge watch. Definitely recommend to anyone into anything “dark and moody”.

Riverdale – who doesn’t watch riverdale? I feel like we all do. The new season is out right now so we’re just waiting till it premiers in Netflix. We were also late to the game on this one and binge watched all seasons within a couple weeks. And I for one, cannot wait to binge another season soon enough!

4. ALL THINGS SWEATERS, COATS, BOOTS AND COZY APPAREL

Since I grew up in a city that rarely got below 60 degrees, it’s refreshing to be able to actually enjoy all four seasons. Being able to “actually” dress for fall is soumething I’ve craved my whole life. Now that I’m living in Atlanta I don’t feel weird buying the faux fur and thick knits. I’m stocking up on cute winter boots and coats for nights out. Here’s what I’m loving now and also things on my “must have” list from REVOLVE:

5. KITCHEN MUST HAVES

Day to day, there are always a few things that I’m constantly using. Some of these things are kitchen staples I think everyone could use while they cook.

Large cast iron skillet – I could seriously not live without this. It is my #1 skillet that I use for anything and everything. Breakfast hash, fried chicken, rice, burgers, steaks, veggies. I cook everything in this.

Le Creuset – the best pot for all your fall soup needs. My mother in law gifted this to me last winter and I’ve been putting it to very good use. It’s oven friendly, sturdy and will last a lifetime.

Mixing bowls – I don’t know how I lived without these magical bowls. They stack and store easily and are so lightweight and helpful. I mix everything in here from hot sauce to cake batter.

Cocktail shaker – Since getting older, I’m making a lot more specialty cocktails and this shaker is totally necessary. I’m obsessed with everything copper lately so this was a no brainer. Love it.
