There’s nothing I love more than a yummy and festive holiday cocktail. Eggnog is a classic holiday drink that I’m sure everyone has had once in their life. There’s always that one family member that loves the stuff and is mixing up some sort of boozy eggnog drink around Christmas time. I guess that relative is me now?
I never really knew what eggnog was growing up. The name grossed me out so I steered clear most of the time. As I grew older I came to appreciate the thick dairy beverage. Eggnog is basically a combination is milk, cream, sugar, egg whites and yolks. It’s super rich and creamy in texture. The grocery store typically has multiple different flavors of eggnog in the refrigerated dairy section. For this recipe, I am using an eggnog without extra flavoring. Although a cinnamon eggnog would work great as well. If you’ve never had eggnog and are a little scared to try it… don’t be turned off. It’s great when it’s served right!
Note: This is not your drink if you’re looking to get wasted…Although, if you adjust the alcohol content, you can certainly get your buzz on! This cocktail makes me want to cozy up next to a fire and watch a Christmas movie with my family. It’s the perfect “dessert” cocktail for after Christmas Eve dinner or any day of December.
My eggnog cocktail is a yummy combo of vodka, baileys, eggnog and some cinnamon and ginger. I love to serve it with a bourbon whipped cream to make it extra creamy and add another layer of boozy-ness! The bourbon is very subtle and pairs lovely with the sweet whipped cream. Although this step isn’t necessary, I definitely recommend it!
