HOW TO SPLURGE AND SAVE ON FURNITURE – HOME DECOR LINKS

I love interior design but damn it’s expensive to fill a room up, you know? I love to find deals, scavenge for sales, join email lists of brands and pair high and low items together. Splurge here, save there and it all balances it out. always subscribe to your favorite retailers email list. This way you know when all the sales are happening and when to pull the trigger on that new bedding you’ve been dying to get. I have an entire separate email for all the stores and designers I love. This way I can keep my main email clean.

I can’t stress how important it is to be on these email lists. This is essentially the only way to know when sales are happening (unless you visit their site every day). I also follow all my favorite stores on social media so I get updates there as well. Instagram has become the biggest marketing place for brands.

You can pretty much always count on sales to be during or right after major holidays. Thanksgiving, Christmas, July 4th, Memorial Day, Easter… pretty much every holiday is a good time to check in to see if your favorite retailers are having a sale.

Some of my favorite splurge stores are:

Some of my favorite bargain/lower priced stores are:

It’s a work in progress but hopefully one day we’ll have the whole house complete the way we like it. For right now I wanted to share what we do have decorated since I get tons of questions about our furniture! I broke it down and made it easy for you to shop our home decor by different rooms.

My mom always taught me how to shop smart. To shop for the higher priced items when sales are happening and to never pay full price for something that will eventually go on sale. Be patient and wait for the sale. Also to mix high priced items with lower priced ones. Last but not least, know your budget and stick to it. She told me there are a couple things you need to splurge on and then you can fill in the rest using cheaper retailers. Those two things? Your bed and your couch. Since these are the two pieces of furniture you’ll spend most time on, you want them to last for years and year to come. If you buy a cheap bed or a cheap couch, chances are they’ll break within a couple years and then you’ll just have to buy a new one. You’ll essentially be wasting money that way. So in my opinion, you should splurge on the things that you want to hold up for a long time!
